Another "Miracle in Taos" did, in fact, occur this past December when the 'Taos Feeds Taos' program fulfilled its mission to provide baskets of food for needy families throughout Taos County. The program was successful beyond all our expectations thanks to the community wide support, and thanks to the dedicated work of the Taos Feeds Taos Committee.
On behalf of the Taos Feeds Taos committee, I want to thank all of you, businesses and individuals alike, who contributed so generously in time, financial support, and food contributions. This truly was, and will continue to be, a community-wide activity. As a result of our collective efforts, 845 food baskets were prepared and distributed to needy families throughout Taos County exceeding our goal of 500 baskets! Over $22,000 was received in cash contributions, plus approximately $20,000 in food donations. After all was said and done, we have $2,033.36 in the bank account available for 1999! Thank you one and all for your generous and abundant support!
Over 400 volunteers from the community helped decorate boxes, bag potatoes, fill boxes, and assist with the distribution. Taos Feed Taos is truly a community wide project! The program for December 1999 is already in the planning stages. We look forward to your continuing support. If you have an interest in serving on one of the committees, please let us know.
